About Dylan Savage – Author, Musician, Speaker, Teacher

Dr. Dylan Savage is a Bösendorfer Concert Artist, Capstone Records recording artist, and university professor. He divides his time between teaching, performing, speaking, and writing.

Savage has performed in countries around the world, including Italy, Switzerland, Iceland, Austria, Malta, US, Japan, and Virgin Islands. He has spoken at numerous conferences including: The Analytics Frontiers National Conference, The International Symposium on Performance Science, Performing Arts Medicine Association, National and World Piano Pedagogy Conferences, Human Complexity National Conference, TRANSelement National Conference on Innovation and Collaboration, and other state and national conferences.

Savage has Doctoral and Master’s degrees in Music from the Indiana University School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the Oberlin Conservatory. He is an Associate Professor of Piano at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Publications and Creations

 

Dr. Savage is the author of The Transposed Musician: Teaching Universal Skills to Improve Performance and Benefit Life and is coauthor of the piano pedagogy book, A Symposium for Pianists and Teachers: Strategies to Develop Mind and Body for Optimal Performance, used by over 40 major universities/schools of music. His Duo Savage CD all rivers at once is critically acclaimed in the U.S. and U.K. His articles have been published nationally and internationally in Clavier Companion, American Music Teacher, Clavier, and Pianoforte magazines on a variety of topics where music intersects with other fields, including kinesiology, entrepreneurship, performance anxiety, and sustainable teaching.

Dylan is creator of What’s Music Got To Do With It? – a performance-lecture experience for the business community. Using skills developed as a pianist, he gives seminars and workshops for businesses, universities, and executives on topics such as creativity, sustainable innovation, collaboration/team-building, quality, continuous improvement, and wellness/ergonomics in the workplace. Past clients have included State Farm, Eli Lilly, Bank One, VF Corporation, French Telecom, Lucent Technologies, Milco Mills, Aspen Summer Music Festival, Westminster Conservatory of Music, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Smith College, Colgate University School of Business, Belk College of Business UNC-Charlotte, and Indiana University International School of Business. Savage’s research has been the topic of feature programs on NBC and PBS television affiliates.
